Lush is a truly special place, vibrant, luxurious, where every room has a different spirit. Beside the delicious food in the restaurant and the lovely staff, our room was very comfortable with a stunning view on the lake. I really appreciated the hot water in the shower and the silence around at night. I have not been to a place as good as Lush in San Marcos !

The property itself is beautiful, with amazing foliage and an open-air restaurant. The receptionist was very helpful and welcoming as well. The most disappointing aspect for me was the amenities and food options for guests. For the price ($160/night), I would have hoped for at least shampoo, conditioner, and a hair dryer in the rooms, but there was only soap. In addition, breakfast and coffee are complimentary but if you want a second cup of coffee, you have to pay extra. On top of that, I asked for some milk with my coffee and was told that would also be extra. For a 3-star hotel, I wasn't expecting to be nickel and dimed for every little thing.

When you open your door to find an "influencer" wearing a loose collection of strings and a duckface pucker among the plants while her friend creeps along the garden path shooting reels for Insta, you have likely booked a room in Lush. Nestled into gardens befitting its name, Lush is somewhat of a sanctuary among the sanctuaries in San Marcos. It is fairly quiet and most of the guests respect the 10pm quiet-time. Our cave room was very atmospheric. I love the natural rock incorporated into its layout. The only downside of this is that the roof in the bathroom and doorways were painfully low. If you are above 6 feet tall I would advise choosing a different option. A bit more packing space for luggage and clothes would not have gone amiss either. Lush is on the edge of town by the nature reserve. It is nevertheless only a 4 or 5 minute walk from everything in the main strip. The Lush restaurant also has a great airy vibe. The food is quite expensive compared to some of the excellent lunch and dinner options available in San Marcos. Even considering that San Marcos is a fair bit more expensive than the other towns on Lake Atitlan.

Didn’t stay there, just went for food and drinks. Drink was OK but the roasted cauliflower omg delicious. And the ambience is so beautiful, have to visit

Worth the hype! Really enjoyed our room and the ambiance of the hotel. Staff was very friendly, and the food was amazing— but expect to pay prices way too expensive for Guatemala. I enjoyed my free breakfast but as good as it was, didn’t find it worth it to eat at the restaurant more than once or twice outside of that.

This beautiful and cozy hotel lives up to its name, located on the exuberant landscaped grounds of San Marcos La Laguna. The location itself is stunning and the hotel bedrooms are gracefully decorated (in a minimalist way), calm and extremely comfortable. The welcome from Jeanette and her staff makes the stay even more pleasant, surely a place to spend a few days at ease on Lake Atitlán!
